Tanner Dance Elevate Theater Company Presents:

Finding Nemo JR

Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR. is playing at The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, Jeanné Wagner Theatre on Saturday, April 27th at 2PM and 7PM . The charming 60-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the beloved 2003 Pixar film Finding Nemo. The Elevate Theater Company cast includes 32 students led by staff and volunteer coaches.

Dive into the big blue world of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR.! This adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.

Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR. is presented through special arrangement with and all materials are provided by Music Theatre International.

Momentum Showcase: Location, Location, Location

This year’s Momentum Showcase is inspired by common phrases connected to the spaces, places, and states of mind that we inhabit or experience. This performance includes original choreography by the members of the Tanner Dance Contemporary Companies as well as by guest artists and Tanner Dance faculty.

This year as we celebrate the legacy and long-standing history of this treasured arts institution, we want to begin at the very start, where dance as a language begins for us.  Whatever the inspiration, dance is a language, a moving language that creates a beautiful visual image that is fleeting and lingering.  In honor of our 75th anniversary, we are excited to share The Poetry of Dance, a collection of dance and poetry that will fill you up with the joy of creativity.

The Umbrella

The University of Utah Tanner Dance Program’s Children’s Dance Theatre celebrates its 75th Anniversary with the premiere of The Umbrella.

A family of scientists dreams of exploring the cosmos with their magical umbrella ship, The Stargazer. Disaster strikes their planet, Pluvia, and the world becomes dark and isolated. When their mother mysteriously disappears, twin siblings Stella and Leo set off with their father across the galaxy to find her. As they journey to distant worlds, they discover the key to returning light and hope to their home.

Every Spring, the LEADD Program present their annual Spring Showcase under the Tanner Dance Adults with Disabilities program. This is our time to highlight the amazing work done by these students - their artwork, poetry, dance, and so much more. Free admission on April 12th at 5:30 at Tanner Dance.
