Performances

Throughout the year the various classes and programs have performances to showcase their hard work. We invite you to attend and show your support. Below is a list of upcoming Tanner Dance events.

Children's Dance Theatre Spring Concert

This Concert is postponed. Please check back for new dates

"Invention"

The University of Utah Children's Dance Theatre presents: INVENTION

If you could travel to any moment in history, where would you go?

A young inventor named Emma has created the world's only fully functional time-travel wristwatch. She seizes the opportunity to visit the workshops and labs of her childhood heroes: Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell... But time travel can be dangerous. Despite her care to avoid disturbing the past, Emma soon discovers that dozens of inventions are somehow disappearing from history. Now it's up to her to find out where the past went wrong.

Come join the Children's Dance Theatre at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre for a lighthearted celebration of the spirit of ingenuity, brought to the stage through inventive dance, costumes and music.

Spring Studio Concert

University of Utah Tanner Dance Program

Virginia Tanner Studio Program Presents

I Wonder

Kingsbury Hall

May 8 & 9

Tickets will go on sale in April 2020.

I Wonder…

Here at Tanner Dance, we encourage the wonderment, curiosity, and imagination of every child and dancer that steps through our doors. A child’s imagination is endless, and through our philosophy we try to nurture that spirit of wonder, regardless of the question. Can I reach the stars? Why are some sunsets more colorful than others? Who am I? We invite you to join us for our annual Studio Show, “I Wonder,” which encapsulates this method of teaching and learning passed down from our founder Virginia Tanner. We hope it will inspire you to look beyond what you see, and to find beauty and wonderment in all things.

Tickets are $10 each and are available online at tannerdance.utah.edu.

Each ticket is good for one show time only. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Please no food, drinks or photography in the theatre.

Momentum Showcase

Momentum Showcase

Each fall, the Tanner Dance Contemporary Companies presents the Momentum Showcase. This performance provides a peek into how dancers choreograph movement and what they learn from engaging in the creative process. Students in Momentum, Tipping Point, and In Motion will share original compositional ideas based on a yearly theme, and explain the artistic and collaborative processes they have used to build their own choreography. Please check back in September 2020 for more information about the Momentum Showcase.

Ring Around the Rose

Ring Around the Rose

Each November, several of our Tanner Dance classes  perform as part of the Ring Around the Rose series at the Rose Wagner Theatre in downtown Salt Lake City.

RDT’s Ring Around the Rose is a “wiggle-friendly” performance series for children and families that explores the magical world of the arts, including dance, theatre, music and storytelling.
